Hearing loss

Ok, so after Mariah has failed 4 hearing tests (2 at school, 1 at the co op by an audiologist and 1 at the ENT's office by an audiologis), we saw the ENT today to find out what's going on.  According to him, Mariah has significant hearing loss that is from a congenital problem.  Apparently it's something she was born with, not a result of fluid in the ears or scarring.  She has a 30 decibel difference in the right ear from what she should be hearing and what she is actually hearing.  Her left ear is only a 10 decibel difference.  If it stays like this, there's nothing we can do about it.  Tubes in her ears wouldn't do anything and the hearing loss isn't enough for hearing aids.  So, we go back in August to re-test.  If the results are the same, then we do nothing.  If the results have gotten worse, then he will figure the rate at which she's losing her hearing and decide from there.  Prayers would be much appreciated!

  1. DO NOTHING?? That does not sound right or acceptable to me? I would call around to some hospitals or other doctors and explain the situation and see if this is how they would handle the problem! There has to be something they can do...HOW IS SHE SUPPOSE TO LEARN IF SHE CAN'T HEAR THE TEACHER! Are they going to accommodate her in some other way?

  3. Hopefully it won't get worse. Would a hearing aid help?
