Cooking lessons at home

Mariah and I spent today learning to cook.  We got a Cooking Express lapbook from A Journey Through Learning.  It was so much fun!  Mariah made out a menu, made a grocery list, and then we went to the grocery store.  She learned how to compare prices and quality, used coupons, and paid for our groceries.  Of course, we had to stop at Dunkin Donuts on the way home for a hot chocolate and an iced latte!  Check out the pictures here:
Mariah putting her lapbook together
Grocery shopping & using her coupons
Making the taco ring (the cake is already made!)
Finished product!  We also put lettuce, cheese, sour cream, etc on individual pieces.

What's dinner without dessert?  She made a wonderful pineapple angel food cake.

  4. What a great learning experience! I always did things like that with my girls when they were little too. They took turns planning the menu, grocery shopping and preparing the meals (always with my help) for a whole week. Thanks for sharing the recipes too!
